This volume on museum studies, one of the most contemporary fields of the humanities, is a compilation –edited by Sharon Macdonald– of 33 studies by specialists, which approach a broad number of museum-related issues. They present and condense all the aspects enclosed by the concept and the functioning of a museum, the latest directions of the museological application, the use of contemporary media within museum premises, the new practices in exhibiting collections and the consideration of the spectator-visitor; it also includes current issues about «cultural finances», museum ethics and the legal existence of museums, which now preoccupy professional museologists. Thus, the theoretical account and interpretation of museum studies on the basis of the volume’s thematic axes adequately covers parameters, questions and the entirety of contemporary the debate on museum management.
